What is an MPC (Multi Party Computation) Wallet?
An MPC wallet uses multi-party computation technology that splits a wallet's private key among multiple parties using algorithms. As the private key is divided between multiple parties, this increases privacy and reduces the risks of hacking, breaches, and losses. As a result, this offers more ways to store your wallet’s private key in a secure and convenient manner, and, most importantly, offers enhanced security for your cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.
What will happen to my Mnemonic Wallet if I create an MPC Wallet?
Your two types of wallets are individual. You can easily manage and switch between your two types of wallets on FX Wallet. For more, you can go to Multi-type wallet management below.
How to create a MPC Wallet on FX Wallet?
|
- On the Welcome page, choose Continue with Apple / Continue with Google
- Authorize with your Apple / Google account
- Set up a security password
How can I give a name to my MPC Wallet?
- Go to Settings > Account
- Tap the edit icon to name the wallet (emoji is supported)
Can I have more than one MPC Wallet on FX Wallet?
Yes. You can create as many MPC wallets as you want (or as many Google/Apple accounts you have). However, you can have a maximum of 6 wallets (Mnemonic Wallet & MPC Wallets in total) managed (or “signed in”) on FX Wallet. If you reach the maximum wallet limit, you will need to reset some of your existing wallets from FX Wallet in order to add or import wallets.
How to add more MPC Wallets to FX Wallet?
- Go to Settings > Account, tap your wallet
- On the Select Wallet page, choose Add or Add Wallet
- Go to MPC Wallet, and choose Continue with Apple / Google
- Verify your current wallet security password
- Authorize with your Apple account / Google account.
If FX Wallet detects existing Cloud Backup on the authorized cloud account, it will verify the split key shares with other parties, if accessible and able to be verified, and then automatically import the existing MPC Wallet. |
How to reset an MPC Wallet?
To reset wallet, simply go to Settings > Security > Reset Wallet.
Cloud Backup
What is Cloud Backup?
After a MPC is created on FX Wallet, the wallet’s private key is split and stored between multiple parties, one of which is your authorized online cloud account. You no longer need to note down your 12- or 24-word recovery phrase on a piece of paper and keep that paper in some place. With Cloud Backup, you can maintain complete control over your private keys while benefit from the convenience and accessibility offered by the cloud's inbuilt features, such as in restoring wallets.
How to check the Cloud Backup of my MPC Wallet?
- Go to Settings > Cloud Backup
- Tap to update the status of your Cloud Backup
Each time tapping to update, FX Wallet automatically reads and examines the encrypted file stored in your cloud account. Please do not edit, move or delete the encrypted file, or your Cloud Back would be damaged, which cannot be retrieved. |
Multi-type wallet management
